Background of the Establishment

In 2012, Dr. Danning Wang was elected the co-chair of Chinese Society of Women Studies(CSWS)and the co-associate director of Gender Research Center (GRC) at Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

The main job of the GRC at CUHK was to work with the mainland academic colleagues in coordinating gender studies by introducing overseas researches and scholars to mainland China. In 2015 and 2016, Dr. Wang was invited to participate in the peacebuilding process in Northeast Asia and the promotion of gender equality Southeast Asia among the Belt and Road countries. In 2016, under the direction of Dr. Wang’s CUHK colleagues, she started to work on the establishment of the foundation.
